I’m wishing for a brighter future in so many ways. First off I am hoping for a brighter future between me and my brother because when we were younger we fought all of the time and I see my mom and her sisters and how close they were and realized: I want that. The waves symbolize for me a future because you never know what’s coming after the next wave. I am hoping that the waves wash in something good, a better relationship with my brother, a good school year and hopefully a good future in general.

I'm the hero of the story, I don't need to be saved - Regina Spektor

I first heard the song Hero by Regina Spektor after watching (500) Days of Summer one of my favorite movies. I love these lyrics so much because to me they represent strength and self worth. By declaring that she is the hero of the story she is confirming that she believes in herself, and saying she doesn't need to be saved is the cherry on top so to speak. She is strong enough to get through whatever the issue is with no help. Every time I hear these lyrics I feel stronger and happier, they can definitely lift me out of a bad mood. So I strongly suggest that all of you fellow bloggers check out the song Hero by Regina Spektor and the movie (500) Days of Summer a great movie with Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel

My mom bought a Magic Bullet yesterday!! It's my new best friend, I'll probably be making smoothies all the time now, I'm excited to try making soup, hummus, and pesto in the bullet! I am probably a little to excited about this but I love making smoothies they are great for breakfast (they help my creative juices flow) and since they are so easy to make I'll never skip breakfast because I don't have time. Yay for the bullet! :)

This is my digital footprint, it is still a work in progress as i would like to add some colour! Right now I have several websites that I use included in the lines on either side, the world in the middle (it is the world wide web after all!) and I don't have all of the circles filled out but I am planning on adding some "screen shots" in them (like the one on the bottom. I'm happy with it is at the moment and the main reason I haven't added anything else is because I don't want to add something in pen that doesn't turn out the way that I wanted. I knew where I stood with the internet so nothing was a huge surprise. I do use facebook regularly and admittedly i use pirate bay and other "free sites" and I do online shopping on the occasion. All in all I don't think I have a bad digital footprint!

Reading Reflction #2

Angela’s Ashes
Frank McCourt
Read Pages 280-309

My reading is going better; I’m enjoying the change in the book. It seems that everybody is working hard so that Frank can leave Ireland/the impoverished lifestyle. Every page I read without Frank’s dad on it makes me enjoy the family’s progress even more. This is likely because when his dad is around things start going badly.
Things have really turned around for the McCourt’s because they are living with a new man. The man however, is clearly taking advantage of Angela. It’s great that she would do so much for her children but I predict that the “free” stay won’t last forever. This is because the book is a memoir which means that everything actually happened and no real woman would be able to put up with that arrangement forever.
A great development in the story is Frank’s new found love of books. It seems that this might indicate a brighter future for him. I predict that if he continues to read and go to school he could potentially get out of the impoverished lifestyle he is currently living. I love how it seems like everyone is cheering him on, I know I am!
When I kept reading and the fact that Angela was having sex with this man so that they can continue living there became clear. I made the frightening prediction that Angela would become pregnant again, this hadn’t happened by the time I stopped reading however it is still a possibility.
The whole book in itself is essentially a text to world connection because; it is a memoir so it mirrors events going on in the time period. For example there has been mention of the potato famine, world war two and the generally poor lifestyles of people in Ireland at the time. It’s difficult for me to come up with text to self connections with this book because the lifestyle I live is so different. I can`t even  pretend to know what it feels like to live day to day not knowing how you’re going to get you`re next meal.
My favorite character in the book so far is the uncle that was dropped on his head. He is such an odd and interesting character. He has a job even though he is ``different`` he let Frank come and live with him in his dead mothers house and feeds him as well as earlier on in the book he let Frank help him out at work and gave him some pay as well. All in all he seems like a genuinely good character with nothing but good intentions.

Intro!
I'm Jordan, this is a new blog for the creative writing english class I am taking. It's pretty cool to be learning "how to blog" in class. I think I'm going to like this course! I'm not really sure what kind of blog I'm going to have here, obviously I will have the required school stuff but I'm not sure what kind of inspiration I'm going to end up using to create a theme for this blog. It will probably change alot! Until next post,
